Good news: in 2026 you don't have to pay for a good form tool. Bad news: not all “free” plans are equal — some are generous, some push you to paid fast. I put the free plans of five popular tools side by side, honestly.

Full transparency: of these tools I'm only a Fillout affiliate. So I'm keeping the list fair — I'll plainly say the most generous free plan isn't Fillout. The goal is for you to find the right tool.

Which one is for you?

Want the most generous free plan and live in Notion? Tally. Need a fast survey with zero setup? Google Forms. Want thousands of ready templates? Jotform. Need top-tier polish for your brand? Typeform. Work bidirectionally with Airtable/Notion, take payments through the form, or suspect you'll need advanced features soon? Fillout.

My recommendation for most founders and small teams is Fillout — because its free plan is already strong (1,000 responses, payments, conditional logic) and it doesn't abandon you as you grow. But let's be honest: if you just need a one-off simple survey, Google Forms is enough; if you want unlimited free forms, Tally is better.
