Template · 2024

A premium template that makes upscale brands feel already-arrived.

Vineyard is the template we reach for when a brand needs to look serious on day one; without waiting six weeks for a custom build.

Context

The "upscale brand" category online is stuck in two boxes: either clinical luxury minimalism (which reads cold), or moody editorial (which reads fragile). Neither lets a young premium brand feel credible on launch day.

We built Vineyard to sit in the middle: warm, confident, editorial without being precious. A template you can buy on Monday and have a serious-looking site by Thursday; and still feel original when the founder tweets about it.

The challenge

The challenge

Templates usually fail in one of two ways: they're too rigid (every site built with them looks identical), or too generic (every site looks forgettable). We had to design a system flexible enough to feel custom, but opinionated enough to stay on-brand.

How we built it

Opinionated flexibility.

01

A section library, not a single layout

Instead of shipping one homepage and calling it a template, we built a library of editorial sections that compose without colliding. Hero variants, story blocks, product grids, collection showcases; each with the same typographic rhythm so no combination breaks.

Type pairings that hold their ground

We shipped three tested font pairings, each one editorial, each one distinct enough that two Vineyard sites side-by-side don't feel like siblings. Every pairing was test-driven against long-form copy, product names, prices, and captions.

Product pages that feel like a catalogue

Editorial templates usually forget commerce. Vineyard doesn't. The product pages are designed the way a print catalogue is composed; hero shot, a paragraph that reads like a caption, spec block, quiet purchase affordance. Shopping as editorial.

Docs that respect the buyer

The setup docs assume you're smart and busy. Ten screenshots, plain English, no 40-minute video. If you've used Framer once, you're live in an afternoon.

Outcome

A template buyers can launch without explaining themselves.

Vineyard ships to founders who want to look like they hired a studio without the studio bill. The section library means two Vineyard sites never look the same; and the discipline in the typography means neither looks like a template either. It does the thing good templates are supposed to do: save time without costing identity.

Custom feel, template speed.
